" Vikas has been attending speech therapy as well as occupational therapy at VIVIKTA since the end of 2014. As the case with many children, initially he was reluctant to attend the sessions. We literally used to drag him into the sessions on certain days. Gradually he started to understand why he had to attend the sessions. Subsequently we began to see improvements in his behaviour and speech. Starting with single syllable sounds, he picked up words, started identifying objects, began to request, and started using limbs and fingers effectively. And also gradually he learnt to do work requiring fine motor skills, counting of objects meanwhile improving in writing skills, reading skills and communicating in complete sentences. The therapists are teaching him patiently while observing his behaviours very keenly. They instruct us and guide us as in what to be done, how to be done, in which all ways a goal can be achieved and so on. Therefore we got the habit of following those instructions at home. "Hi! This is Preethisha. My son Jiyaan is under the guidance of the Special Educator, Mrs.Archana since few years. At first he was not able to grasp the pencil and write. He was little slow with identification of objects and he was not able to open his bag or zip it. Later on I started seeing some tremendous improvement. My son is 4 years old now and he was diagnosed with Autistic disorder in month of Jan 2019. I was shattered the day I came to know about this. For many days I cried thinking what mistake I did that my son is suffering. But then I thought I will work towards this problem and give our best shot. For first 8 months we changed 2 therapy centers as we were not convinced by the approach of speech therapist.

Then I started taking speech and occupational therapy in Evolve last year from the month of October 2019. I am very much convinced and satisfied by the approach and the way the ST is taken. In initial few days the therapist told us that he has apraxia of speech as well. We were very upset but we thought we will put in our 100% efforts and work closely with the speech therapist, rest all will leave to god. I am really thankful to Ms. Riya and Ms. Chandana who had put in lot of efforts in the initial 7 months’ time and also guided us every time how to deal with child at home.

During pandemic me and husband started giving more attention to our child and did not leave him unmotivated. Special thanks to Ms. Shreya who has always motivated us which is very much required when we are dealing with our child. From past 7 months Ms. Shreya is taking the session and I can see lot of progress in my child. All her tips and guidance worked like magic for us. I am really grateful to Ms. Shreya for taking the speech therapy sessions during this pandemic. She connects with the child so well and also gives us right guidance time to time. We work at home as per her instructions and it has helped us and Vivaan. I know we still have long way to go but this journey will not complete without the help of speech and occupational therapist.
